Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Que Homes NZ Limited (“Que Homes”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) designs and builds homes for families across Canterbury. This is our single Privacy Policy, covering both our website and our home-building business — from your first enquiry through to handover and beyond.

We are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 2020, and with our obligations as a member of the Registered Master Builders Association of New Zealand and a participant in the Master Build® 10-Year Guarantee scheme.

2. Who this policy covers

This Policy applies to prospective and current clients (including co-owners, trustees, and guarantors), people acting on a client's behalf, and other individuals whose information we receive in connection with a build, such as site contacts.

3. What we collect and how

We collect personal information as needed at each stage of a project — from your initial enquiry, through design and contracting, into construction, and after handover for warranty and maintenance. This typically includes contact and identity details, financial and site information relevant to your build, and correspondence about your project.

We collect this directly from you, and sometimes from your advisers (such as your bank, broker, solicitor, or the local council) where relevant to your build.

Giving us your information is voluntary, but if you don’t provide what we need — such as your contact details, or the information required for building consents or your Master Build® 10-Year Guarantee — we may not be able to respond to your enquiry or carry out your build.

If you enquire through our website, our enquiry forms ask for your name and contact details and, depending on the form, some or all of the following: how you’d like us to contact you; whether you have land and where it is, or where you’re looking; your approximate budget and whether you have finance pre-approval (and if so, how much); when you’re hoping to build; the type of home you’re interested in and how many bedrooms and bathrooms; and anything else you’d like to tell us about your project. Each form shows which details are required.

4. Why we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and prepare quotes, designs, and contracts;

  • manage construction, payments, and communication about your build;

  • register and administer your Master Build® 10-Year Guarantee;

  • meet our legal, financial, and regulatory obligations; and

  • operate and improve our website.

When you enquire, we may use automated tools within our customer-management system to help us assess how your enquiry fits the homes we build — for example, by comparing your budget with our typical build costs. A member of our team always reviews that assessment; it is never the only basis for a decision about your enquiry.

We only send you marketing — news and updates about Que Homes — if you have agreed to it, for example by ticking an optional marketing box on one of our enquiry forms. That box is separate from the privacy consent, and leaving it unticked doesn’t affect your enquiry. Every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time.

5. Website, enquiry forms, and cookies

Our website is hosted by Wix.com, which also provides some of the enquiry forms on the site. When you submit one of those forms, your details are stored in our Wix account and we’re notified by email so our team can respond.

Where an enquiry form on our website is provided through monday.com, the customer-management system we use, your details go directly into that system so our team can respond, rather than being stored on the website itself. Before you submit, you’ll be asked to confirm that you agree to us collecting and using your details to respond to your enquiry, as described in this Policy. Separately, you can choose whether to receive news and updates from us; this is optional.

To protect our enquiry forms from spam and automated abuse, they may use Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that a form is being completed by a person. reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and how you interact with the form, and its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Our website uses cookies, including Google Analytics and Google Ads remarketing, to understand how the site is used and to show relevant advertising. You can manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings, though this may affect how the website functions.

Wix, monday.com and Google (for reCAPTCHA) may also use cookies or similar technologies that the website and its forms need in order to work.

6. Master Build® obligations

As a member of the Registered Master Builders Association and a participant in the Master Build® 10-Year Guarantee scheme, we register eligible builds with Master Build Services Limited and keep the records needed to support the Guarantee for its duration. We may share relevant information with Master Build Services Limited to administer the Guarantee, respond to audits, and manage any claims.

7. Our privacy commitments

We comply with the Privacy Act 2020 in how we collect, use, store, and share personal information. This means only collecting what we need, keeping it secure, using it for the purpose it was collected, and giving you the right to access and correct your information. If we experience a privacy breach likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and anyone affected, as the Act requires.

8. Storage, security, and retention

We hold personal information in a small number of core systems — monday.com, Xero, Microsoft 365, and Wix (which hosts our website and holds enquiries made through its forms) — along with physical build files where applicable, protected by access controls and password protection. Some of these systems are hosted overseas (monday.com in Australia; Xero and Wix outside New Zealand); we rely on those providers' security commitments, consistent with the Privacy Act.

We keep information only as long as we need it: 7 years for financial and tax records, and 12 years after a home is completed for build and compliance records — long enough to cover the Master Build 10-Year Guarantee and our liability under the Building Act. If an enquiry doesn’t lead to a build, we keep it for 2 years so we can follow up if you’re still interested and understand how people find us. After that, we securely delete or de-identify the information, unless we need to keep it longer because of a dispute or a legal requirement.

9. Who we may share information with

We may share personal information with:

  • Master Build Services Limited, for guarantee registration and claims;

  • subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants working on your build;

  • your own advisers, where you've authorised this;

  • councils and regulators, for consenting and compliance;

  • the providers of the systems we use to run our business (monday.com, Xero, Microsoft 365, and Wix), which hold information on our behalf; and

  • Google, through website analytics and advertising cookies, and through reCAPTCHA on our enquiry forms.

We do not sell personal information.

10. Your rights and how to contact us

You can ask to access, correct, update, or remove the personal information we hold about you, and raise any concerns about how we've handled it, by emailing info@quehomes.co.nz or writing to Que Homes NZ Limited, 262 Marshs Road, Prebbleton, Selwyn, New Zealand. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at www.privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website. This Policy was last updated on 28 September 2026.
